Beauty DIY: Cleaning Make-Up Brushes!

Quick and efficient...Wet Ones/Equate Version!

Gather your make up brushes!

Rub brushes against facial cloth until rubs clean.

Lay flat your newly happy and clean make up brushes!  Hooray :)

Something so simple and highly important but overlooked is cleaning your make-up brushes!  Ask yourself, "when was the last time I cleaned my brushes?".  If you can't remember, this is a simple, on the spot trick that I actually found from Jen at From Head to Toe.  She's a make-up artist and I thought this was a brilliant easy quick cleaning trick that I thought I could pass along!

For a deeper clean I would suggest getting an antibacterial hand soap or dish soap as she uses, the facial cleaning wipes I got were antibacterial but sometimes our brushes need a deeper clean!  Not only is it important, we are keeping those germs off our faces!  I would recommend deep cleaning your brushes at least once a week and spot clean every other day!

Weekly Wants!

1. Handmande Weddings
Yes, yes and yes.

2. Be-All Buttondown
I love...this top.  Classic chambray, perfect for a dressy outfit and a casual one.  I have to have this, pair it with a colored denim or tucked in a high-waisted skirt or over a flowy maxi dress!

3. Big Fatty Mascara
Done by Urban Decay, I hear so many amazing things about this mascara and if you love big luscious lashes while moisturizing, then you have to have it!

4. Lipsurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint
I've been searching for the perfect lipstick, the perfect color and I want this so bad.  It looks perfect and Tarte is all natural!  I hate shimmery lip anything, so matte for me is the way to go!

The Brown Smokey Eye

Naked Palette: Halfbaked, Smog, Darkhorse and Creep

For this look I grabbed my Naked Palette from Urban Decay, but if you do not have it, that's fine!  You can grab any drug store version with the three colors above or use the same technique with any other three colors!

1. Taking your oval shaped brush, dip it into Halfbaked.  Applying the gold shimmer all over your lid and just slightly on the inside corner of the bottom lid.

2. Taking your domed shaped brush, dip it into Smog.  Apply this to the creases and outer corners of your eye.  Making sure to smudge the colors a bit!

3.  Using your "smugdy" angled shading brush, dip into Darkhorse, smudge the color in the crease and outer corners, dragging the color up then smudging down into the outer corners.

4. Grab your small dome brush once more and dip into Creep or a black eyeshadow, and slightly smudge up to blend the colors.  Add a little to the bottom corner to get a bit of the smokey eye on the bottom lid.

I absolutely love a smokey eye!  I think its great that you don't necessarily need to use blacks or greys to achieve the look, but any type of colors will work!  Here's what I used one more time!

This Morning We....

This morning we, or I rather, got up and started to get ready for work.  Since I love getting up later than I'm supposed to, Chris got up with me and helped me finish getting ready!  We fed daisy, I made my breakfast (to go) and we quickly put together my lunch!  Teamwork makes the dream work people and at 7:30 am we needed lots of it to get me out the door.  How was your morning?  Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!  Cheers!

Things I Love Thursday!

Blush: E.L.F
Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay
Eyeshadow Palette: E.L.F

Happy Thursday!  Just a reminder that tomorrow is 11/11/11, I hope all of you make the biggest most important wish of your life!!  The past couple days I had off from work and Chris had some work away from home, so I took some "me" time and fall cleaned our entire living space, treated myself to breakfast and relaxed.  Our space feels great and organized!  Okay now lets talk about some beauty products I'm loving this Thursday!

Blush: It's by E.L.F which is Eyes, Lips and Face.  You can get this brand at Target and it is SO inexpensive.  I paid $3 dollars for the Coral color and the best thing, the rest of the line has eyeliner, foundation, brushes, etc all for $1-$5 each!

Mascara: The Falsies Volume Express in Black Drama by Maybelline.  At first I wasn't sure of this mascara but it grew on me.  It lifts and makes my lashes look so thick just like I am wearing false lashes!  I never need to curl my lashes (and I don't generally anyway) and it lasts all day!

Foundation:  Revlon Colorstay foundation in Buff.  I bought it for combination/oily skin because that is the type of skin I have.  I usually use mineral powder foundation because of how lightweight on my skin and breathable it is!  So I was nervous to try, but it went above my expectations.  It covers perfectly without feeling heavy or "cakey" and lasts up to 16 hours!

Eyeshadow Palette: Once again an E.L.F product.  It comes with 32 colors and I chose the warm palette.  It cost $5 and I love it!! There are so many wonderful choices...there was also a cooler palette with blues and bright greens.  I'd love to get my hands on it as well!

D.I.Y-Make Up Remover

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Witch Hazel
Travel Size Plastic Bottle

Fill bottle 50/50-Witch Hazel/Olive Oil
then shake!

Hi everyone!!  I’ve found a completely inexpensive and awesome do it yourself eye makeup remover.  I actually found this following one of my favorite bloggers Kandee Johnson, she’s a makeup artist!  So I give her complete credit, although I’m sure she’s learned it somewhere else too and I wanted to pass along this awesome at home creation! You can find the video here!

What you’ll need:
Olive Oil (extra virgin/virgin doesn’t matter, I used EVOO)
Witch Hazel
Small Plastic bottle (you can get at CVS, Walmart or Walgreens!)

What you do:
You want a 50/50 solution.  Pour witch hazel in first, as much as you want then pour the olive oil in after and watch it float to the top!  After that, put your cap back on and shake!!  Grab a cotton ball and watch it work!!  So cool right? Not only does it make your skin feel soft and amazing, it doesn’t leave your eyes feeling oily and you can use the witch hazel on your skin like an astringent.  It’s perfect for sensitive/blemished prone skin as well!

Well there you have it, an easy, inexpensive, D.I.Y eye make up remover!!
lots of love,
Kate

It’s finally here!!  My very own blog!  For about a week or so I have been what I call, “blogstorming”.  Trying to figure out what type of blog to do is tough work, trust!  With the help of some great friends and hours of drawing inspiration, here we have One Classy Broad!  I am so excited to share with you all a love of crafting, photography, style and beauty products sure to inspire and sure to be affordable, because lets face it, who doesn’t love saving money?!  So lets kick off my first post with some products I am loving this week!!

Products I love!!

Nivea Hand Creme!  This stuff is only 99c at CVS and Walgreens, it’s super creamy and it doesn’t feel greasy.  It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and smells great!

Rosebud’s Strawberry Lip Balm and Moisturizer! Yum!! I love strawberries!!  You can find this at Anthropologie and Sephora.  For only $8 dollars, this lip balm goes on creamy and lasts!  Plus it tastes great and never leaves my lips feeling more wonderful!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick!  I found this at Walmart while looking for a lipstick.  Now the only time I’ve ever used lipstick was dance concerts and Halloween, but lately I have wanted it for everyday.  I got in color 631-Luminous Pink!  Its a tad shiny for me, but great for an extra umpf in your beauty routine.  Grab your fav color for only $4.74!

Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash!  Found at The Body Shop, this facial wash is sure to please!  It smells good and is awesome for your skin!  I love this stuff and there is a whole collection!   At $12 its worth it to keep your face blemish free!

Natural Love and Beauty Palette!  Forever 21′s cheaper version of the Naked Palette from Urban Decay.  I stumbled upon this one day looking around after work for a skirt and was completely excited!  It was nearly $7 and I love ABSOLUTELY LOVE eyeshadow!!  So I grabbed it!  It lasts me from the time I put it on until I take it off!

Elle!  Of course every classy girl has to grab a magazine for her viewing pleasure.  Personally, I really just love to look at the pictures as well as the outfits for inspiration!
So there we have it, some products I am loving this week!  As far as my outfit, I paired a plain white tee, with a denim skirt and a belt (Anthropologie).  Super comfy and still feminine/classy for a relaxing day off!!

Thanks for tuning in and until next time!!
xoxo,
